Valencia CF had the chances and dominated the game

Valencia CF welcomed Valladolid CF at Mestalla at 4.15 pm on matchday 19 of LaLiga Santander, the final game of the first half of the season with Marcelino’s men looking to finish the first term with a win.

Valencia CF had a great start to the game with some precise passing and comfortable early minutes in possession. Carlos Soler had the first chance of the match after a great combination between Rodrigo Moreno and Soler who put it just over the bar.

Valencia CF had the best chance of the first half with a brilliant link-up play between Dani Parejo, Carlos Soler who whipped it across the face of goal and found Denis Cherysev whose effort went skimming past the post. The first half between Valencia CF and Real Valladolid CF finished goalless at half-time at Mestalla with all to play for in the second half

Valencia CF came out in the second half trying to score. Denis Cherysev had the first chance of the second half. The Russian player tried his luck from long range but it went a long way wide of the target. Moments later, Santi Mina was fouled in the box by Calero and the referee pointed to the spot, Rodrigo Moreno stepped up but Masip saved it to keep it scoreless at Mestalla with the home side providing all the danger.

Chances kept on coming for Valencia CF Rodrigo Moreno delivered a perfect ball into the path of Santi Mina who headed it over just under the 60-minute mark.  Aforementioned Santi Mina missed a goal-gaping chance after a great piece of play.

Carlos Soler played a great square pass into Dani Parejo who put Valencia CF in front with an absolute missile past Masip to give Valencia CF a well-deserved lead with just under twenty minutes of normal time left to play.

Rubén Alcaráz fired Valladolid level from a free kick in the closing minutes of the game. Valencia CF tried to come back in front but the last game of the first half of the season finished in a 1-1 draw. Valencia CF will play against Sporting Gijón in the second leg at Mestalla on Tuesday night at 9.30 pm when they will try to advance to the Copa del Rey quarter-finals in front of the home fans.
