Former Valencia CF player David Silva turns 33 today. The Spanish midfield wizard, renowned for his close control and exceptional vision of the game, came up through the youth ranks at the club, and became a fan favourite.
Born on January 8th, 1986, Silva joined Valencia CF at the age of 14 from Maspalomas in his native Canary Islands, and played with the academy sides until he turned 17. After brief spells on loan to SD Eibar and Celta Vigo, he was brought into the first team for four seasons at Mestalla.
Whilst at the club, he lifted the Copa del Rey in 2008, provided 22 goals and 30 assists, as well as helping the team to qualify for Europe on three occasions and winning the European Championships with Spain.
Silva joined Manchester City on June 30th, 2010, but is still remembered fondly at Valencia CF –a club close to his heart. Happy birthday, David!
