The Frenchman has experienced a lot over his first year at the club
Sunday, January 13th marks a year since Francis Coquelin made his debut for Valencia CF, in a 1-2 win against Deportivo La Coruña at Riazor. The Frenchman has had a rollercoaster 12 months, but is now ready to begin his second year at the club and help them rise up the table.
He scored his first goal on February 17th, 2018, against Malaga, heading in what was his third in total as a professional.
Coquelin suffered an injury last March, tearing his achilles tendon. He would return in a regional derby against Villarreal CF in September, and since then he has been used across the midfield and the defence as a versatile option for Marcelino.
He returned from another injury to play in the 1-1 draw with Valladolid this past Saturday, marking his 29th appearance for Valencia CF.
